SERIOUS CHARGE.

    At the Redfern Police Court on Thursday, Alic Magney,  29, described as a chorus singer, was charged with indecently assaulting Ernest Vaughan. The evidence was unfit for publication. Accused reserved his defence, and was committed to the Criminal Court for trial, bail being allowed, himself in £200, and two sureties in £100 each.

    At the quarter sessions to-day Alic Magney pleaded guilty to an indictment charging him with having at Redfern, on April 8, assaulted Ernest Vaughan. He was remanded for sentence.

    Alexander Magney, who pleaded guilty to a charge of assault, was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment in Goulburn gaol.

SENTENCED AT THE SESSIONS.

    The following prisoners, who pleaded guilty or were convicted during the past week at the quarter sessions, were sentenced yesterday: Phillip George, larceny, 18 months’ hard labor in Goulburn Gaol; Joseph Lewis, larceny, three years’ hard labor in Darlinghurst Gaol; Charles Jamieson, stealing from the person, 18 months’ imprisonment in Goulburn Gaol; Owen McSorley, burglary and receiving, two years’ imprisonment, with hard labor, in Darlinghurst Gaol; George Cahill, breaking and entering, 10 weeks’ imprisonment in Darlinghurst Gaol; Alex Magney, assault, eights months’ imprisonment in Goulburn Gaol.
