REDFERN.
(Before Mr Buchanan, SM.)

ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT.—A lad named Albert Kneller appeared on remand, charged with having attempted to commit an indecent assault on another lad name Charles Grimble. Both lads were employed in Geddes’s wool-washing works in Botany-road, and the assault was said to have happened at about 6 pm on Monday evening, July 20. Mr TM Williamson appeared for the defence. Constable Jeffs deposed to the arrest. The prisoner, on being arrested, said that the prosecutor had knocked him down and wanted to assault him.

To Mr Williamson: the prosecutor had the reputation of being “a bit touched.” No complaints had been made to the police until Thursday. The prosecutor lives opposite the police station. Dr Septimus Lawes, house surgeon, Sydney Hospital, gave medical testimony. The prisoner was committed to take his trial at the Quarter Sessions on August 3 next. Bail was allowed.
