CHARGE OF ASSAULT.

    In the Water Police Court yesterday morning, before Mr Johnson, SM, Henry Mottershead, 38, was committed for trial at the next Court of Quarter Sessions on a charge of having attempted to assault, [a boy], Thomas Watson. Bail was refused.

    Henry Mottershead pleaded guilty to an indecent assault and was remanded for sentence until Wednesday.

CONCURRENT SENTENCES.

    The man Henry Mottershead, who pleaded guilty at the quarter sessions on Monday, of attempting to indecently assaulting a little boy named Thomas Watson in Woolloomooloo recently, was sentenced by his Honor Judge Fitzhardinge this morning. He informed the prisoner that he had read his statement, which Mottershead had attributed his wrong-doing to the effects of drink. However he hopped that the prisoner would carry out his promise of reformation. The sentence of the court was that he be imprisoned with hard labor for 18 months. Gaol-recorder Cunningham, in answer to the judge, stated that Mottershead had received a sentence at the Central Police Court of six months’ hard labor for indecent exposure on August 11, 1890. There were three charges, and the sentences were concurrent
