A SERIOUS CHARGE.

    At the Glebe Police Court yesterday, Frederick Mackintosh, 50, was charged with having behaved indecently in Lyndhurst and Darling streets, Glebe, on the 17th ultimo. Accused pleaded guilty through his solicitor, and was sentenced to fourteen days’ gaol. Mackintosh was further charged with having assaulted a little girl of 11 years, named Henrietta Crawley, in Darling-lane, Glebe, on September 18. The girl gave evidence as to the nature of the alleged assault, and stated that it occurred about 11 am; and Lizzie Crawley, a sister, and another girl named Violet Hall gave evidence for the prosecution. Accused reserved his defence, and was committed for trial to the quarter sessions on November 1. Bail was allowed—self in £100, and two sureties in £50 each, or one in £100.

    Charges of Assault.—At the Glebe Police Court yesterday, before Mr Addison, SM,

    At the Glebe Police Court yesterday, before Mr Addison, SM, Senior-constable Irwin proceeded against Frederick McIntosh, aged 50, on a charge of having assaulted a little girl, [Henrietta Crawley, 11], at Darling-lane, Lyndhurst, Glebe, on September 18. Mr C Bull appeared for the defence. The accused was committed for trial at the next Court of Quarter Sessions at Darlinghurst. On a further charge of misconduct, the accused was sentenced to be imprisoned, with hard labour, for 14 days.

QUARTER SESSIONS.

    The November sittings of the Court of Quarter Sessions were opened at Darlinghurst yesterday. Mr WL Merewether prosecuted for the Crown.

PLEAS OF GUILTY.

    Pleas of guilty were entered in the following cases:—Michael McFaddyn, breaking and entering and stealing; George Henry McGee, stealing a watch and chain; Alfred Beaumont, stealing from the person; Charles Mohlman, uttering counterfeit coin (two charges); Richard Henry Butler, stealing in a dwelling; James Murray, breaking and entering and stealing; William McManus, theft of a bicycle; Philip Anson, assaulting a girl under 14; Edith Benson, larceny (three charges); Frederick McIntosh, assaulting a girl under 14. In each case the prisoner was remanded for sentence.

INDECENT ASSAULT.

    Frederick Mackintosh pleaded not guilty to an indictment charging him with having indecently assaulted a girl 13 years and one month. He was found guilty, and sentenced to 12 months’ hard labor in Goulburn gaol.
