QUARTER SESSIONS.
———

The Moree Quarter Sessions were held yesterday morning before His Honor, Judge Gibson. The list of cases was short, being disposed of before 11am. Mr F Bevan was Crown Prosecutor. The local legal gentlemen present were: Messrs PE Stirton, ABF Zlotkowski, and TR Hogan.

Thomas Hanson, [aka Thomas Anson] a Sobraon boy, 15 years of age, was charged with assaulting one David McDonald, [7], at Boggabilla, on 16th of January, with intent to commit an abominable offence [of sodomy].

The police stated the lad was very simple, and had pleaded guilty to the charge.

Asked if he had anything to say why the sentence of the Court should not be passed, the boy replied “No.”

His Honor, in passing sentence, said he intended sending prisoner to a first offenders’ gaol, where he would have separate treatment, and would be kept away from old offenders. He then passed sentence of nine months’ hard labor in Goulburn Gaol.

The Court then adjourned sine die.
