LIFE-SAVER GAOLED
————
FOR OBSCENE BEHAVIOR
————
WILLIAM DORNNEY, 22, laborer, who was sentenced at the Central Court to-day to six months’ gaol for obscene behaviour at Long Bay, was said by his counsel, Mr Clive Evatt, to be member of the Long Bay Lifesavings Club, and to have figured in seven brave surf rescues. He had a good character, and had never been before a Court before.
Mr Laidlaw, SM, said it was a remarkable thing that men who came before him on charges of his description were invariably of irreproachable character. He could not, however, give defendant the benefit of the First Offenders’ Act.
