RIOTERS IN COURT.

    Denis Gray, 63, a laborer, was at the Redfern Police Court on Tuesday, charged with a serious offence, in Cleveland-street, Redfern, during the early hours of that morning. Evidence was given by the arresting constable, but the details were unfit for publication. Accused was committed for trial at the Central Criminal Court on the 23rd instant. Bail was not applied for.

    Committed for Trial.—At the Redfern Police Court yesterday, before Mr Payten, SM, Dennis [sic] Gray, aged 63, was charged with having committed a serious offence. The accused was committed for trial at the next sittings of the Central Criminal Court at Darlinghurst, and was allowed bail.

    MR CG Wade, Crown Prosecutor.

    Denis Gray was charged with attempting to commit a criminal offence, [bestiality ], and pleaded not guilty. The jury returned a verdict of guilty, and highly commended Constable Charles Taylor, of No. 8 (Darlinghurst) Police Station for his promptitude in bringing the offender to justice. Accused was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, with hard labor, in Darlinghurst.

A CONSTABLE COMMENDED.

    A man named Denis Gray was convicted on a charge of having committed a certain offence. The jury took occasion to compliment Constable Charles Taylor, of No. 8 Station, on the promptness with which he id his duty in arresting the prisoner, who was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
