WATER POLICE COURT.
TUESDAY.

BEFORE the Water Police Magistrate, with Mr J Birrell.

    John Anderson, apprehended on warrant, charged with indecently exposing his person on the Flagstaff hill, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour.

TUESDAY.

BEFORE the Water Police Magistrate, with Mr J Birrell.

    John Anderson, for indecent exposure on the Flagstaff Hill, was sentenced to three months’ hard labour in gaol.

    James Taylor, for riotous behaviour on the Circular Quay, was sent to gaol for forty-eight hours.

    There were eight cases on the summons lists. Frederick Mailler, master of the schooner George, was fined 20, with costs, for neglecting to keep a light on board , in accordance with the regulations.

    Mark Powell appeared to answer the complaint of his wife, which stated that he had assaulted and beaten her.

It appeared that plaintiff and defendant are living apart, and that on the 31st ultimo defendant came to her lodgings in Jamison-street, dragged her off the sofa and about the room, and also got hold o f her by the throat; and knocked her head against the sofa. Fined £3, and ordered to pay costs of proceeding.

    In the case Ellen Grady v. Patrick Murray, a servant suing for wages, the Court ordered payment of the amount claimed, £1 13s, with costs.

    James Whelan, landlord of the Dewdrop Inn, Woolloomooloo, appeared to answer two charges—allowing prostitutes to remain in his house, and keeping house open for the sale of liquors at illegal hours. For each offence he was fined 20/-, with costs. In two cases there were no parties, and in another the summons had not been served.
