CHARGE OF SELLING AN OBSCENE PRINT.

Carcoar, Friday.
At the police court to-day, before the police magistrate, JR [or Edwin R] Newling, a book hawker appeared to answer a charge of selling an obscene print, or picture, contained in a book entitled “Plain Home Talk,” by Dr Foote. Mr Dodd, solicitor, appeared for the defendant, Sergeant Francis prosecuting. After a patient hearing the defendant was convicted, and ordered to pay a penalty of £5. Notice of appeal was given.
