BERMAN’S BODY
————
POLICEMEN SCANDALISED
————

Jacob Berman, in his bedroom at Underwood-street, Paddington, absorbed in physical “jerks,” little thought of the trouble he was making for himself.

Three policemen formed the opinion that they could see altogether too much of Berman and, at Darlinghurst Sessions to-day he was tried for indecent exposure.

Evidence showed that Berman could be seen only from two of the windows of Constable Workman’s house. He was not visible from street or lane.

After the jury had retired, Judge Cohen said: “This is a trivial case that should have been dealt with by a magistrate. It ought never to have been sent up here.

“Too many trivial cases are committed for trial. The criminal calendar is heavy enough with them.”

The jury returned a verdict of not guilty.
